The Hunter’s manufacturing sector has recognised GH Varley
Pty Ltd for its world class work and named it as the 2007 Energy
Australia Manufacturer of the Year.
The prestigious award was one of 11 categories winners announced
tonight in the 2007 EnergyAustralia Hunter Manufacturing Awards.

Tomago Aluminium will roll out the red carpet and celebrate the
significant achievement of two million hours without a Lost Time
Injury, today (Wednesday, October 17).
Celebrations will begin at the Plant this morning and continue
until Friday to acknowledge the significance of the event and
recognise the commitment of everyone on-site.
In acknowledging this milestone, Tomago Aluminium Chief Executive
Officer Andre Martel said, “Hazards and associated risks

HunterNet Group Training Company Gains Accreditation
HunterNet Group Training Company (HNGTC) was
notified recently by the Department of Education and Training
that it has been approved as a Registered Group Training Organisation.
Registration is an accreditation
process for Companies operating as a Group Training Organisation.
In order to become registered, Group Training Companies
must demonstrate to an approved Auditor that it carries out its
responsibilities in accordance with the National Quality Framework
established in 2002, and revised in early 2006. Read

Group Training Company to Develop Business in the Upper Hunter
HunterNet Group Training Company (HNGTC) has
become the first Hunter-based Group Training Company to establish
a physical presence in Muswellbrook, after an agreement was reached
between HunterNet Cooperative and the Hunter Institute of TAFE.
On 16 October 2006, HunterNet and
HNGTC entered into a lease arrangement to rent a small office
on the grounds of the local TAFE Campus in Muswellbrook. Read

ATSA Defence Services and The Australian National
University form Strategic Alliance to manufacture a new type of
underwater vehicle.
Sydney, 31st January 2006 – ATSA Defence Services are
showing the prototype of a miniaturised unmanned submarine that
leapfrogs existing technology.
“70% of the earth is covered by water, yet we know less
about what’s down there than we know about the other side
