LTI Free
Tomago Aluminium will roll out the red carpet and celebrate the
significant achievement of two million hours without a Lost Time
Injury, today (Wednesday, October 17).
Celebrations will begin at the Plant this morning and continue
until Friday to acknowledge the significance of the event and
recognise the commitment of everyone on-site.
In acknowledging this milestone, Tomago Aluminium Chief Executive
Officer Andre Martel said, “Hazards and associated risks
are inherent in an operating environment such as an aluminium
smelter and this new safety record is proof of everyone’s
complete dedication to reducing risks, preventing injury and maintaining
safety at the highest standard.
“Achieving two million hours of safe work activity requires
the total involvement and commitment of all our personnel. Safety
is our leading value and this event is evidence of our commitment
to embrace this culture and work together as a team to achieve
great things. They deserve to be congratulated and thanked.
“As we continue on our safety journey we remain vigilant
about improving the systems and processes which help us to positively
progress our safety performance. The achievement of this milestone
indicates our potential to continue to even greater levels of
performance in the future,” he said.
Tomago Aluminium was also recently announced as a finalist in
the Best Safety Management Systems category of the 2007 WorkCover
NSW Safe Work Awards. The winners will be announced on October
25.
