edition of ‘What’s On!?’. I
hope you all had an enjoyable festive season and have
settled back into work nicely. We have been busy planning the year
ahead, and as you will see February is going to be an eventful month.

VES'S HIGHLANDER COAL CAR
Vought
Engineering Services have recently received an order for two Highlander Coal
Cars from Chain Valley Colliery to be supplied to the NSW Central Coast
Mine. The final assembly of the 20-48/48
model cars will take place at their Highlander Workshop facility in Tomago and
delivery is expected in Feb 08.
VES
will also provide service and spare parts support for the Chain Valley Coal
Cars from their Tomago Workshop. Congratulations to Graham and his team.
TOMAGO ALUMINIUM CELEBRATES 25 YEARS!
Tomago
Aluminium officially launched its 25 Anniversary Celebrations on Wed 16 Jan
08. It was 25 years ago that the first
anodes were produced at Tomago Aluminium.
This special launch was attended by over 80 guests, including a group of
20 employees with 25 years service, the management team, and a number of
representatives from the business community and their suppliers. Andre Martel,
CEO hosted the proceedings and Councilor Ron Swan, Mayor of Port Stephens said
a few words.
Andre
also presented two cheques for $25,000 each to charitable organisations
from the community who share their values about safety and the environment -
Kidsafe Hunter and the Hunter Region
Botanic Gardens.

HELP US SAVE BABIES - CHARITY GOLF DAY
Aggreko
& Energy Australia are hosting the inaugural ‘Help us Save Babies – Charity
Golf Day’ 14 Mar 08 at Pacific Dunes.
All proceeds go to John Hunter Children’s Hospital Neonatal Intensive
Care Unit (NICU) and Westpac Rescue Helicopter Services (WRHS). Funds will be used to increase the capacity
for retrieval and care of critically ill infants in the Hunter and Northern NSW
Region.
This important event is a four player Ambrose, and tickets cost $115
each which includes gourmet lunch & guest speaker. A selection of Sponsorship opportunities

PHOTO OPPORTUNITY FOR MEMBERS
Over
the past few months Murray McKean, Viscom Creative Imaging, has been working
with HunterNet Members, taking photographs of their premises and various
projects for a special reduced rate. The
work done to date has been fantastic!

WELCOME NEW HUNTERNET MEMBER!
At
the General Meeting in December, Members were introduced to Andrew Howard,
Business Development Manager of Stowe Australia.

Australia is Australia’s largest privately owned electrical and communications
contractor with capabilities including design & engineering, installation,
construction projects, maintenance, 24 hour service and national rollouts.

HNGTC Update
By
the end of February, it is expected that HNGTC will have commenced 325
apprentices and trainees since it’s inception in September 1996. In addition, more vacancies are expected to
be lodged by Parent Companies (new and existing) during March.
During
February, HunterNet Group Training Company will commence as many as 35 new
apprentices and trainees in various trades and callings.
